Preventing Summer Slide in Math
There are many fun activities your child can do to practice math skills and apply concepts without doing drills or worksheets. Consider building a newspaper fort, or a marble run. Let your child plan a party or outing, and design a budget. Here is a link to some more great ideas!

Spring Clean-Up Day
Your Help is Needed for the 5th Grade Outdoor Clean Up Day
The 5th Grade teachers are coordinating a Clean Up Day outside of Fox Hill School for their students. The goal is to help teach the 5th graders to become champions of the planet. Students will have the opportunity to head outside during different intervals of the day on Friday, June 8th (rain date one week later) to tidy up around the school by raking, cleaning up trash, planting flowers, and possibly spreading some mulch. In an effort to help the students accomplish this goal, some supplies and parent volunteers will be needed.
- Flats of flowers (approximately 12 flats)
- Paper lawn and leaf bags (approximately 40 bags – they usually come in packs of 5)
- Large green trash bags (1 or 2 boxes needed)
- Borrowed rakes (approximately 10 needed)
- Borrowed small handheld gardening shovels for planting (approximately 6 needed)
Thank you so much in advance for helping the 5th graders learn about taking care of their environment while also showing their pride in their school.
**There is a convenient online sign up available at: http://bit.ly/5thgradecleanup

Puberty Information
On either 5/22 or 5/25, your child will be participating in a one day lesson during their PE class time entitled, "Growing Up: How Our Bodies Change As We Grow Older". This learning opportunity has been developed to provide students with a condensed lesson that covers puberty and the relative changes that occur regarding reproductive health, hygiene, and their mental/emotional development.
The boys lesson is being taught by Matt Jackling, the District Coordinator for Health/PE and the girls lesson is being taught by Suzy Shields, Fox Hill School Nurse.
A letter is going home in backpacks today, and it includes an option to have your child not participate.

Concord Museum
Students had an enjoyable and meaningful experience thanks to the PTO, our generous chaperones, and the wonderful staff at the Concord Museum. I encourage families to visit this small, but wonderfully curated museum, and let your fifth grader tell you all about April 19, 1775!
What is this artifact's significance to the events of April 19? |
