Fifth Grade Spring Clean Up

What a great day to spruce up our school! Our fifth graders worked hard to rake, weed, and plant beautiful annuals all along the front of the building.  Thank you to all the parents who donated flowers, trash bags, rakes, garden tools, gloves, leaf bags, your green thumbs, and most of all, your time and energy!  Your fifth grader is now an experienced yard worker!
Thank you to the wonderful parents who got their hands dirty with us:
Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Silva, Mrs. Rumsey. Mrs. Shah, and Mr. Young!

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Mrs. Spreadbury for organizing this wonderful event for our kids and our school.  She truly is THE ONE!!

Patriots Defeat Loyalists

The Patriots defeated the Loyalists in a tight race of knowledge and teamwork today!  The final score was 6147 to 5900!  What a day! We began with every student sharing their research on the American Revolution.  Topics ranged from the the well known Battle of Bunker Hill to more obscure topics like Margaret Corbin and Sybil Ludington.  (Ask you fifth grader what these amazing women contributed to the birth of our country!)
We enjoyed "battles" of knowledge; a military style marching drill exhibition, and an intense game of human anagrams ( a test of knowledge and spelling!)
I was immensely proud of all our students today who showed they can meet our high standards of achievement and cooperation.
Now onto the Constitution and the branches of government!
